Sambhali U.S. welcomes new members to its Board of Directors
Dina Baker and Ginka Poole
Two marketing and communications professionals have joined the Board of Sambhali U.S.
Dina Baker has more than 35 years of experience in marketing, branding, and communication, with expertise in strategy development, new product development and launches, creativity, and bridge-building. She has always sought to bring these capabilities to mission-driven organizations, whether in her professional roles spanning the health, human services, and transportation sectors or in her pro bono work.
Dina’s interest in Sambhali Trust grew from accounts she read of Shereen Arent’s first stay there as a volunteer. When Shereen then established Sambhali U.S. and sought input on communication, Dina jumped at the opportunity to help. Prior to joining the board, she led the development of the organization’s communications strategy.
“I have been preceded and surrounded by generations of women with strength, conviction, and independence of voice and spirit. Through Sambhali U.S., I have the opportunity to join with a passionate and able board and other volunteers to support women and girls in their self-empowerment and self-determination, as they create a potent legacy for their future generations. What a gift it is to be able to contribute to this work.”
Ginka Poole brings more than 20 years of photography and marketing experience to Sambhali U.S. In the past five years, she has been a freelance photographer, travel writer, and blogger. Recently she has begun focusing on sustainable travel and supporting women-run businesses, especially those in marginalized communities.
On a 2019 trip to India, Ginka visited Sambhali Trust Empowerment Centers in Jodhpur and Setrawa and the Sheerni Boarding Home. As an advocate for women's rights, she was impressed with the accomplishments of the Trust and the women's sisterhood. She happened to meet future Sambhali U.S. president, Shereen Arent, on one of those visits and volunteered on the spot. She has steered the organization’s social media strategy since its inception and is now the Chair of the Communications Committee.
"The stories of the women of Sambhali are heartbreaking but have a lot of hope. As the Communications and Social Media Manager, I want to put those impactful stories in the palm of your hand, creating a community that uplifts and supports the women and girls of Rajasthan."
